On November 27th, previews for Christie's auction of
Important American Paintings, Drawings, and Sculpture begins at their
Rockefeller Center location. As always, if you have the ability to visit, it is a wonderful opportunity to examine works seldom seen outside of their privately-held collections. Among the 151 lots are several by George Inness, Andrew Wyeth, and John Singer Sargent, as well as pieces by Richard Edward Miller, Willard Metcalf, Gari Melchers, Nicolai Fechin, Frank W. Upon examination it appears that the Julius Leblanc Stewart painting `Disppointment`is actually Sarah Berhardt, who was known to pose for him.
